چکیده

In the preceding paper it was shown that a phospholipase prepared, from Penicllium notatum will hydrolyse lecithin only after the, addition,, of a minimum proportion of anionic amphipathic molecules1 e.g. dicetylphosphoric acid, cardiolipin, sodium dodecyl sulphate (Bangham & Dawson, 1959), The onset of hydrolysis occurred, only when the emulsion particles carried a minimum net negative charge, independent of the .species of anion added. The question arose whether the negative charge on the surface of the emulsion particle was ,directly concerned with the reaction between enzyme, and substrate at the interface, or whether it merely dispersed the substrate more efficiently. This paper attempts to answer this question by a study of the action of the phospholipase on surface films of lecithin and of lecithin containing dicetylphosphoric acid. The technique developed for this study was to float films of [32P]lecithin and to follow the loss of radioactivity from the surface film as the water-soluble glycerylphosphorylcholine produced by the enzyme diffused into the aqueous phase.

Simulation of Fabrication toward High Quality Thin Films for Robotic Applications by Ionized Cluster Beam Deposition

The most commonly used method for the production of thin films is based on deposition of atoms or molecules onto a solid surface. One of the suitable method is to produce high quality metallic, semiconductor and organic thin film is Ionized cluster beam deposition (ICBD), which are used in electronic, robotic, optical, optoelectronic devices. Many important factors such as cluster size, cluster...

Effects of Surface Modification on the Recovery Time and Stability of Nanostructured Tin Oxide Thick Films Gas Sensors

Along with high sensitivity in detecting gas, the response and recovery times of semiconductor gas sensors are of considerable importance for real life applications. In most cases, the recovery time is more than the response time. At the same time, water vapor present in the ambient, is chemisorbed on the tin oxide, SnO2 surface and the water molecules dissociate into hydroxyl species, which ac...

Thermodynamical Studies of Irreversible Sorption of CO2 by Wyodak Coal

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), temperature programmed desorption mass spectrometry (TPD-MS) and small angle neutron scattering (SANS) were used to investigate CO2 uptake by the Wyodak coal. Adsorption of carbon dioxide on Wyodak coal was studied by DSC. The exotherms evident at low temperatures are associated with the uptake of CO2 suggesting that carbon diox...
